Spring is here!

Quiet roads and frequent snowy mountain views make Spring a great time to visit the North West Highlands or maybe visit the odd distillery. This is Balblair near Edderton which makes a fine malt. You can also fill your own bottle from the manager’s special cask in the shop, with or without the visitors’ tour.
Here, the whin (gorse) and spring flowers are in bloom, and our wildlife is getting ready for the breeding season. Live camera feeds to our Visitor Centre will again be fed from a Golden Eagle nest (if the birds co-operate!) and there have been recent sightings of Sea Eagles too. Here at Cathair Dhubh we have a flock of Twite (small brown sociable birds) visiting daily and we have become more otter friendly with an artificial holt down by the shore.
